little Child
About This Song
“Little Child” is a song that I wrote for my dad. As a child, I looked up to my dad as my hero, my teacher, and my friend. For this song, I wanted to express my love and appreciation for him.
I wanted to capture the special moments that we shared together, like watching cartoons and going to the park. And even though I’m grown now, I still look up to my dad as a father, a teacher, and a friend. That’s why I wrote the final line, “Because when I’m a man, I’ll know right where to stand.” I wanted my dad to know that he will always be a role model and a guiding force in my life.
Overall, “Little Child” is a song that celebrates the love between a father and a son, and the special bond that can never be broken.
Lyrics
Keep your lights on
When you’re scared of the dark
And no monsters will ever come for you
They’ll have to get through me first
I will keep you Safe
I will stay awake
Until the morning comes our way
Stay tucked in your bed
Remember what I said
I’m only one door away
Tomorrow
When you see the sun glow
Shining through your window
You’ll walk to the living room
Turn on your cartoons
And I’ll join you soon
Well have a day of fun
Go to the park for lunch
And take a rest in the afternoon
But night will come again
As the day comes to an end
So brush your teeth
And hop into your bed
But darling don’t you worry
I’ll tell you a story
And I won’t leave your side
Until you close your eyes
I’ll kiss you on your head
And I’ll think of what you said
I’ll love you forever dad
And when I’m a man
I’ll know right where to stand
As father, a teacher, a friend
